About SMP Calculator

SMP Calculator is a free tool designed to help UK employees quickly estimate their Statutory Maternity Pay entitlement. We built it because navigating maternity pay rules should not require a spreadsheet and a law degree.

What We Do

You enter your average weekly earnings and due date, and the calculator shows you a week-by-week breakdown of your SMP payments over the full 39-week payment period. It covers the initial 6 weeks at 90% of your average earnings and the remaining 33 weeks at the statutory flat rate.

Why We Built This

Becoming a parent is life-changing, and the financial side of maternity leave is one of the biggest worries for expectant parents. We wanted to create a simple, no-fuss calculator that gives you a clear picture of your income during maternity leave, so you can plan with confidence.
